Does makeup protect our face from air pollution?

I have a friend who wears makeup all the time. She says she does it because makeup protects her skin from pollution. Is it true? And does it work for all brands of makeup?Does makeup protect our face from air pollution?
It protects your skin if it is the right formulated brand. I have had tremendous success and I can see it. I use BEE LUSCIOUS COSMETICS Retexturizing Primer and their liquid powder mineral foundation its the most incredible brand of products and they work unlike so many other brands that say they do so much but deliver NOTHING .Does makeup protect our face from air pollution?
No. You'd have to cake makeup on pretty thickly to _maybe_ get a little protection, since makeup is very permeable. On the other hand, some makeup provides a bit of protection from the sun, which is far more damaging to skin than air pollution. If they do,it will likely be marked on the package.
oh i wish
No.

Because your skin needs to breath.

And it clogs up your pores which is bad for you.

  • How do i wear makeup without my face getting really oily?

So i wear a little cover-up and face powder. I do wash my face first and use a toner and mattifier. But the thing is, is throughout the day my nose specifically starts getting really oily and sinks my makeup into my pores and it looks nasty. so what should i do about it i need help before my continuation on june 3rdHow do i wear makeup without my face getting really oily?
If you really want to use a liquid foundation, choose one that is oil free, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. Neutrogena %26amp; Almay have these. My recommendation is to try mineral make-up because it covers w/o having that sunk-in look when your face goes oily.

You should also buy oil blotter sheets and take with you to use during the day when your face starts to get oily. That way, you can blot w/o taking off alot of make-up. I used to have really oily skin and I'd take a blotting powder with me to work so that I could touch-up my make-up during the day w/o having to put on more foundation.

I use mineral make-up now and I won't go back to liquid foundation because my face is still a little oily and I don't need that extra liquid foundation on my face to add to it.How do i wear makeup without my face getting really oily?
If you wear foundation, you'll want to buy one that's oil-free, and then apply a loose powder over the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) on top of the liquid foundation, which will help soak up oil and shine. Also, wash your face once a day with a facial cleanser that contains 2% salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Use an oil-controlling lotion under your foundation.
u haveto carry around a blot powder
You need to buy oil free foundation. Maybelline has some good stuff.
You need to buy foundation that is oil-free. It'll help (:

How can i keep my face makeup to stay on ALL day?

i have powdered face makeup and im constantly re applieing like 5-6 times a day .. is there something like a moisturizor or anything you no of to keep it so i dont have to re apply it like every hourHow can i keep my face makeup to stay on ALL day?
Your best bet would be to use a primer like another person suggested. I prefer the one from Smash Box. Then use a powdered makeup that is heavier like a wet/dry powder foundation. I like Studio Tech or Studio Fix from M.A.C.. Then make sure to set it with a translucent powder afterwards. This will help your blush set as well.

Hope that helps! How can i keep my face makeup to stay on ALL day?
ok no bs this is a cheap quick fix spray ur face with hairspray my cuz is an entertainer and she does this before she goes on stage says it is vitually sweat proof i have also done this works great if u sweat at all just dap it away let me know if this works for u
u can try getting a Primer... laura mercier makes a good one (but it's $75!!)

also, try revlon colorstay or those types of makeup products.. good luck!
omg, get bare minerals, they give you this stuff to put on before you apply the powder, its a life saver! i totally love it.
after you're done applying every thing just apply a translucent powder over your whole face to set your make-up (i use the laura mercier one and its super good)
cover girl continuous wear stays on all day long around $8.00 a bottle and last for 6 to 8 weeks greatest stuff ever made...i wear it to work in the summer and its around 120 degrees in my shop i come home makeup still on...have been using cover girl since i was 16 I'm 41 now..i look like I'm 34.....so everyone says...
buy the expensive kind of make-up
Use bare minerals. Before you put it on put on a moisturizer. It makes your skin supple and the minerals stay on better.
The body shop makes a vitamin E face spray that'll set your make-up.
If you go to Avon, there's stuff called ';Model In A Bottle'; you spritz it on your face and your makeup stays on..and, I know this sounds stupid but hairspray. It really does work.
Hi, I actually read this really good article about tips to help make up stay longer, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure, I did http://www.carefair.com/Makeup/Tips_to_H鈥?/a>
Setting your makeup with a translucent loose powder is a good idea. When you brush on the powder it helps 'set' your makeup for the day. Pretty much every cosmetics line has a loose powder option that you could choose.

How can I make my face look pretty with makeup?

I have a round( i think its really fat) face. I have big cheeks. my eyebrows had a little accident a few years ago, and it between them is too big of a gap. theyre just unusual looking...

also i have a little nose and somewhat small mouth. I have hazel eyes and longgg eyelashes.

What is the best makeup color for hazel eyes?(mostly greenish)

and how can I fix my eyebrows without it looking like i actually put makeup on them? and how can i brighten up my face when i look dead? How can I make my face look pretty with makeup?
I would suggest possibly filling in your eyebrows if you not comfortable with they way they look. There are stencils out there, specifically made by Anastasia sold by Sephora. That is a great product and really does give the natural look.

If you want your cheeks to look smaller and more contoured, I would suggest using a bronzer on your cheeks but below the apple of your cheeks. Since it's hard to say this visually...youtube has many great videos on how to apply make up.

Also, if you have hazel eyes, pretty much anything looks good, but a more purple/taupe color looks really nice and brings the color out.

To brighten your face, I would suggest using bare escentuals..they make a product to add luminosity to provide a even complexion, which will brighten your skin.

Hope this helps somewhat. How can I make my face look pretty with makeup?
I will recommend watching make up videos on youtube for tips. And dont worry if you dont get the exact results you want because you will get better with time after trying and experimenting with the make up you choose eventually.

For the eye shadow, try olive, gold, brown, rust copper and green eyeshadows.Just blend it well and it should look good.

    Do more research like i said before on youtube channels such as;

makeup. How to care for my face if i wear makeup ?
Important to wash you face every night even if your tired. Quick simple routine:

Wash face with a wash that contains glycolic acid which cleanses, exfoliates, and brightens your complexion.

Moisturize (Important) at night and before make up.

If on the oily side put on a product containing salicylic acid.

Dry Skin: Use a lotion with hydrating hyaluronic acid
Make sure you're taking your make-up off before you go to bed. You can use any number of products. I especially like the make-up removing wipes, be sure to rinse your face afterwards.

I don't use anything before makeup but that's just me.
Theres a great range in superdrug called miss sporty and the make-up is designed for teenagers because they get alot of spots and some of the chemicals in the make-up actually helps to get rid of spots and not multiply them.

    OR

You could use simple cleansing wipes

Is it safe to use hairspray on your face to keep your makeup on?

I've tried it a couple of times as a friend suggested it to me to keep my makeup on. I thought it sounded silly, but I tried it (eyes closed of course so it didn't get in and sting them!) and it worked! My makeup stayed on all day. Has anyone else tried this too? Is it dangerous? It does sound a bit dodgy to me, but I just want to find out if it's remotely safe to do so before I start using it all the time to set my makeup.

Thanks! Is it safe to use hairspray on your face to keep your makeup on?
Funny you should ask this. When I was younger I used hairspray to keep my eyebrows in place. But quite honestly when the hairspray dries (or when you sweat and it dries) it becomes white and sort of flaky. I pretty much quit wearing make up all in the last several years. It's just too much of a pain. However, I do know that clinique (or one of the premium brand make-ups) sells a ';face setter'; that is made to set your make-up. Try Macy's, Dillard's, Penney's; the large department stores. Is it safe to use hairspray on your face to keep your makeup on?
i dont think it is safe
NO DO NOT EVER DO THAT AGAIN ! !! ITS NOT SAFE ! PLUS ITS BAD FOR YOUR SKIN
NO IT'S NOT GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN AT ALL IT MAKES MOST OF US BREAK OUT! PLUS IT GETS REALLY STICKY AND YOU'RE FACE WILL LOOK OILY.
Stop that! It's not good for you.
    what the F???
I wouldn't recommend that at all. Only because hairspray has so much alcohol in it and that is not good for your face at all.
Honestly that is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. Don't you know that it says keep away from eyes for a reason?
Your friend has been inhaling way too much hairspray. First of all it is dangerous and what if you get it into your eyes?

Just bring a compact with you and you can apply more makup to your face when needed. BUT NO HAIRSPRAY ON YOUR FACE, that is why they call it hairspray!
even though it doesnt get in your eyes that can't be good for you

one..you can breathe it in and that is definately not healthy. it can kill brain cells.

two.. i cant imagine that it looks... normal.

your face is proabably all sticky and all us s have problems with our makeup staying on but you cant really do anything about it. spraying hairspray on your face! thats not smart

its not good for your skin and will make you break out and it might damage your complexion causing blemishess and wat not.

    hairspray on face= NOT safe
i dont know if it is safe but doesnt the hairspary feel sticky on ur face reply to this plz
No, it is definitely not safe. It says to keep away from the eyes, and spraying it directly in your face is not smart.
not only is it unsafe, but the chemicals in the hair spray are so bad for your skin
That's definately NOT GOOD FOR YOUR FACE AND SKIN!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously your friend is a little bit crazy!

For anyone reading this including the person who asked this question go to the website listed under the sources. This product is called Matte Maker (invisible oil blotting powder). It is designed to set make-up and cover up the shiney spots on your face that are developed by the oil on your skin. The Matte Maker stays on the face all day long until your ready to take your make-up off. I use this product and some of Laura Geller's other products and I LOVE THEM!!! Even if this is an expensive brand of make-up! The matte maker is worth it trust me!!!
Do it... and definitely keep your eyes open...
